2019 Student Portfolio Review

The AIGA Central PA Annual Student Portfolio Review will be held at Kutztown University, Sharadin Art Building. 

The AIGA portfolio review is open to all design students at the undergraduate and MFA levels. The review is designed to give you advice on how to present yourself and your work. This is your chance to: 
  • Have a professional look at your portfolio 
  • Distribute your resume 
  • Practice your interview skills
  • Receive honest feedback about your work

To reduce the time students have had to wait for their review, we will be conducting two sessions – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. When you are completing your online registration, please let us know what session you prefer. We will do our best to accommodate the time you select. We may ask you to be flexible so that we can balance the number of students between the morning and afternoon sessions. Please arrive at your session’s check-in time so that we can begin reviews on time. Lunch will not be provided for students, there are plenty of places to grab a bite to eat before or after your session. Feel free to bring your lunch and eat during our break.

Check In: 9:00 AM

Lunch Break (Catering for REVIEWERS ONLY)– Noon to 1:00PM

Afternoon Session: 1:00 to 3:00PM

How does it work?
Review sessions will be conducted like speed dating. This format maximizes the number of reviewers you meet with during your assigned review session. One-to-one time with reviewers is limited to 15 minutes, so be prepared to present your portfolio and receive feedback within this time constraint. 

This event is designed to model the interview process; so be early, be prepared, and be mindful of how you present yourself and your work. Professional attire is recommended.

How to Prepare:
  • Present 8 to 12 of your best portfolio pieces.
  • Have 6 to 10 copies of your resume.
  • A fully charged laptop / device if you plan on showing screen-based work.
  • We cannot guarantee wireless internet, so have back-up files saved locally.

Interested in being a reviewer? 
We are looking to recruit 30 to 40 passionate, dedicated, and candid volunteers who serve as portfolio reviewers. This is a great opportunity to help support and shape Central PA’s next generation of professional designers.

We ask that reviewers arrive at 9:00 AM to register. A light breakfast will be provided – with plenty of coffee. Just prior to starting our first sessions, brief welcome comments and instructions will be given. Between sessions, we will provide lunch. Coffee, water and soft drinks will be available during both sessions.
